En Block and Mastopexy Implant Removal

This 50-year-old came to discuss permanent removal of her implants. They were originally placed 26 years prior, were saline and approximately 400 ccs. Over the last 10 years, she began to experience a gradual hardening of her implants to the point where they became quite tender, painful and were displaced. Because she was ready for permanent removal of her implants, Dr. Leonard recommended an en bloc implant removal, which removed the capsule surrounding the implant in one piece with the implant still inside. She also was interested in a breast lift to maximize her breast tissue and shape. She had both procedures and at her post op appointment almost 7 months after surgery, she said that her shoulder and neck pain, headaches and pressure in her chest had disappeared. She was quite pleased with her aesthetic result!
