En Block and Mastopexy Implant Removal

After having implants placed and a breast lift 9 years ago, this 40-year-old woman came in to see Dr. Leonard to have her implants permanently removed. Initially, she did well with the implants, but later began to experience a heaviness to the breasts as well as back, neck and shoulder pain. Approximately 2 years ago she began to experience symptoms of Breast Implant Illness (BII), specifically brain fog and muscle aches and felt her health was deteriorating. Dr. Leonard recommended an en bloc implant removal, which removes the capsule surrounding the implant intact with the implant inside, and a breast lift to maximize her remaining breast tissue. She scheduled both procedures and when she returned for her final appointment 6 months after surgery, she was very happy with her results. She has experienced a very significant relief of pain and pressure and is very happy about her decision to remove the implants.
